This collection was created specifically for Helvete Naturpark in Espedalen — a unique natural site in Norway that is home to Northern Europe’s largest potholes (“jettegryter”), formed around ten thousand years ago. The designs play with the name Helvete, which literally means “hell” in Norwegian. The dramatic landscape of deep, steep potholes may well explain how the place got its name, while the postcards introduce Nordic animals in humorous scenes inspired by the place and its striking character.
Ministry of Denial
This collection presents a series of official statements from a fictional Ministry of Denial. Through Nordic animal characters, the works reflect small but recognisable aspects of human behaviour. A white rabbit insists on “Winter forever” while standing in melting snow. A magpie surrounded by watches claims that time simply “flies”. A lynx is confronted with “Out of stock”, a subtle nod to our culture of endless consumption. In other scenes, everyday phrases of self-improvement — “Stay grounded” or “Working on my anger management” — are taken literally, exposing the gap between intention and reality. A moose admits that “Being adorable is exhausting” — a quiet reflection on the effort behind appearing agreeable. These are small stories, balancing humour and reflection, where animals act as mirrors — and the viewer is left to recognise something of themselves.

About
EIKEVEI is a Norwegian design project created by Olga Dudygina. The postcards are inspired by Nordic nature — animals, birds and landscapes — and printed on real wood veneer, where the natural grain of the wood makes every card unique.
EIKEVEI postcards are printed on real birch veneer. Birch has long traditions in Nordic craftsmanship and is known for its light, warm surface. The natural grain of the wood makes every card unique and gives the surface a lively, tactile character.
Retailers
Eikevei products are developed with bookstores, museum shops and other curated retail spaces in mind.
